Getting stuff done in screen-based media, Vancouver-based director, writer, editor, actor, puppeteer, etc. specializing in comedy in all things, Mauri is a venerable show business gal and is, in fact, a ray of sunshine right up in your face.
Having been raised in “the biz,” she was performing in television commercials as an infant and defending creative choices in the editing room at age seven. Really. Mauri has worked in a wide variety of capacities with all kinds of people, animals, and puppets for all sizes of stages and screens.
She has edited short films and several show promos, coached actors professionally, dramaturged plays, taught puppetry to improvisers and improvisation to puppeteers. Mauri’s worked as an assistant record producer of show music, puppetry consultant for film and television, and was deemed “criminally rehabilitated” by the Canadian Government for “demonstrating at the Capitol,” having attempted to get Americans Universal Health Care in the early 1990’s.
Mauri
seeks to simplify joy in everything. As a self-described “Wineau,” she brought
the victory lap to blind wine tastings and has a penchant for wine pairing lacto-ovo
vegetarian food. She cheats at mini-golf.
Mauri
is a graduate of New York University, having attended both Tisch School of the
Arts and SEHNAP. She also has part of a Master’s Degree in Consciousness Studies from
the Holmes Institute.
She is deeply devoted to her life partner and her rescue dog.
She also does a perfect kookaburra impression.
